Glenkinchie Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenkinchie

Glenkinchie is part of the Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky family and forms part of Diageo's Classic Malts of Scotland series.

Glenkinchie distillery is located near the quaint rural village of Kinchie in East Lothian, amid the rolling golden barley fields of the Scottish Lowlands - a idyllic landscape which has captivated many visitors with its charm and beauty. The Scottish Lowlands used to be dotted with dozens of whisky distilleries, with almost every town being able to boast its own single malt.

Today there are only three Lowland whisky distilleries left, and as part of a once numerous breed of malt whisky distillers, Glenkinchie is the inheritor of many of the grand whisky making traditions of Lowland Scotland. Being only fifteen miles from Edinburgh, Glenkinchie has been adopted by the citizens of Scotland's capital city as "The Edinburgh Malt"

The beautiful red brick Victorian distillery building opened in 1825 and Glenkinchie has been producing fine single malt whisky ever since. In the great tradition of nineteenth century philanthropy, you can still see the neat rows of brick worker's cottages - and even a bowling green.

Glenkinchie single malt whisky is fresh, light and grassy in character, with a creamy and slightly aromatic edge. In many ways typical of the Lowland Scotch whisky style, Glenkinchie has varied its whisky range by the introduction of a 14 year old single malt aged in Amontillado Sherry casks.
